WATCHING

TV SHOWS

• tale of 1000 stars: i was only really interested in this show bc i like earth, and i watched him act in theory of love and really liked him ! but i ended up really enjoying this show bc it had a lot of character development and the main character realizing what his true dreams in life are, and it was a sweet show to watch :) i watched it at the beginning of the month, right when it ended airing, and tbh i’m glad i waited till it ended airing to watch it !

• we best love: fighting mr. 2nd: i loved wbl s1 way more than i thought i would, so i’ve kept an eye out for s2, and it didn’t disappoint! i feel like s2s often just ruin the main character and just destroy whatever character development was made in s1, but this series pleasantly surprised me ! shu yi was validly angry, he didn’t forgive gao shi de in two seconds, though there were misunderstandings, they worked through it while processing emotions in a normal way, and i love that ! yu is so talented and i love how they sprinkled in bits of japanese throughout the series ! dont even get me started on shou yi and xuan zhen i love them ? xuan zhen canonically being neurodivergent, the way their relationship never really took off but they just quietly came to be,,, im a puddle of feeling. i really enjoyed this show !! bl shows that don’t focus on the fact that it’s bl are my favorite bc im a sucker for plot :)

• word of honor: im still in the process of watching this rn, i’ve been pacing myself at a measly 2 episodes per day to maintain my sanity bc i am in the middle of my finals weeks rn :d as of apr 30, im on ep 30 out of 36, though not all episodes have been posted on youtube yet. im truly like 2% away from complete word of honor brainrot, esp bc these past few episodes have had so much real development for wkx and zzs :( i truly love the entire cast of characters, i feel like they’re all so well-rounded and have so many complexities. it’s really realistic, which is what i like about danmei. well, not realistic w all the cultivation and stuff but like.. their personalities aren’t black and white, one person isn’t deemed good or evil and that’s what they are, which is what i like! 

  • also gong jun’s acting. i love it. very much. zhang zhehan is also so talented i swear he pulls off zzs’s character flawlessly

KPOP CONTENT

• cravity park: i started watching it last month but i got all caught up this month and i,, am now a luvity :) someone tell me i don’t have to stan every 4th gen group i come across just bc i find them funny. anyway cravity is so funny i love the members

BOOKS

• all rhodes lead here - mariana zapata: sometimes you just need to read a cute na romance to help you through your busiest month of the semester and that’s what this book is. ive read enough mz to know what her style is: oversharing + generous-but-doesn’t-take-shit main character and antisocial + caring-deep-down love interest, and i know that her slow burns are exactly what i want sometimes. and this was no different ! i read it in two days and it was a decent read

• the midnight lie - marie rutkoski: this book has been on my tbr for like a year and i finally read it and i enjoyed it ! not as much as i wouldve if i wasn’t so busy w school, but thats on me. i enjoyed how easy the writing style was, and the plot was so good. sidnirrim supremacy !

• the house in the cerulean sea - tj klune: this is the one. my fav book this month. my new comfort read. i read this over the span of 2 days and enjoyed every moment of it. several reviewers have said that this book is like a big gay hug and thats exactly what it is. found family, sweet romance, and just lots of love. a very good read. my fav <3

FIC

i randomly started reading a bunch of iwaoi like the last week of april ? not sure why bc i havent read the manga in a while but iwaoi has been on the mind lately. other than that, i had to read carry on again for my eng class so as always i went on the search for some new snowbaz fics, and found a few that i really enjoyed ! snowbaz dynamics are forever my fav bc i get pining, enemies to lovers, roommates ! and grumpy/sunshine trope its like win after win. i also read cravity fic though there’s not a lot that appealed to me ? im probably gonna have to dig harder through the tag lol. i read a lot more fic this month than last, which is strange, but not, at the same time. more schoolwork=more anxiety=more escapism=fic reading :)

WRITING

actually didn’t post anything this month, and didn’t write a whole lot either lol. this month has been my worst writing month all year so far which is ironic bc i was supposed to be participating in camp nano :< my wc target was 20k but what i ended up writing was 8623 words,,,, but i have reasons ! ofc my finals week is the last week of april and my cousins unexpectedly ended up staying at my house for a couple weeks, so i ended up staying home from college for 2 weeks as well. i had a lot less time to write but also i was so uninspired for oats at the beginning of the month :/ i think most of my inspo is back and im ready to bang out the last chapter !!!! i started a new hunhee fic that i came up w one day and im enjoying it ! shouldn’t be too long, maybe like 11k ish. 

NEXT MONTH

finals end may 4 and i move back home on the 2 so i should have plenty of time to read write and watch tv so yes thats what i’ll be doing. my wc goal is gonna be 15k bc i know i’ll be super lazy the week after finals + im getting the 2nd dose of the vaccine so i might feel out of it for a few days,, but i absolutely need to finish writing oats and hopefully i can get all of the hunhee fic done too :) that would be amazing. 

i have a few books i wanna read; im reading the atlas six atm, then i wanna read a short contemporary before i reread cdth before mister impossible comes out. it’s aapi month so i also wanna squeeze in at least 1 book by an asian-american author !

in terms of watching, i’m gonna finish word of honor after finals, then i know lovely writer finishes soon so i may watch that. i was thinking ab watching the shadow & bone show but tbh idk if i still want to. i wanna get caught back up w t map for sure though ! other than that, i’ll watch whatever interests me !
